“Just Because… You Are The BEST!”

You Are The BEST!

I mean it!

The people in magic are really the BEST! I remember when we were touring all over the world and we would do our shows in each city/town, I would call the local magi and invite them to our show as our guest… some would, some would not, but LOTS (like MOST) would always say things like; “can we take you to dinner?” or “could we bring by coffee as you are setting up?”, or that we were welcome to stay at their house!

Really… their HOUSE??? I mean as far as they know I could be some axe murdering whack-o, right?!? The thought never seam to cross their minds! (I know how they feel… I have done the same thing, with-out a single thought!)

The point is we seam to extend a special trust-bond to those in our industry. I like to think it is that we KNOW what it takes and we can ‘relate’… the basis of rapport’ and trust.

WELL: (Time Warp… fast forward to NOW December 2009)
Last week I got a call out of the blue… (well actually it was a referral… HINT!-HINT!) I received a call from another Las Vegas Show Producer who needed us to ‘magically produce’ the brand-new Academy Award Winning Maestro of the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra for their Holiday Spectacular Extravaganza! (…OH, and “it WAS!” according to reviewers and sold out audiences!! It Was AMAZING!)

Hang-on… I AM getting to the point here…
Well, most of you know that I have been selling off 99% of my Illusion Stash (of the original 98 Illusions I had…) so I needed something to actually ‘do the job’ with.

I ASKED…
I posted my request a few places around the net and that night I got several responses.

Originally, I was looking to ‘purchase’ the illusion, but no-one had one for sale… a few offered to rent the illusion to me. Cool.

…But One Guy said he would just send it to me and let me use his, “just because” I asked! (… that alone is a Huuuuuge TIP by the way!)

WHAT???

WHY???

I’d say, “just-because” he is one of “US”… you know; ‘another brother in the trenches’ simply doing what we do to serve and support our relationships and “just-because” that is what we do!

REALLY???

REMEMBER; we are talking about a real-moneyed prop that he was going to “loan to me just because”!

What a PRO! What a nice guy!

Though I ‘get-it’, cuz I have had this same attitude all my life and career… just ask anyone whom I have loaned any of my time, talent & treasures to over the years, so I don’t know why I was so delightfully blown away… but I was!

I could go ON about this ‘nice-guy’ who saved-my-bacon on this event and helped me to kick some serious butt for this event… AND, though he was just willing to “loan it to me Just-Because” he WILL be seriously rewarded for his kindness even though he never asked, implied for a penny… “Just because”!

So to “Kipp Sherry”, (http://www.KippSherryMagic.com) to me, YOU are The Man, The Myth, The Legend and huge THANK YOU “just-because” you are YOU!

Top to Bottom or Bottom To TOP? – YOU Be the judge!

BusnessFinishLineI was chatting with some of the family members here at “The Dean’s List, Your University of Success!” (The World’s Largest Success Support Site For Aspiring & Professional Performers/Presenters!) and we were discussion ‘the effectiveness of value-added process of our success business approach’ which caused me to re-share this proven principle of success once again… here, for YOU!

Funny thing is, because it is just “what we do”, we sometimes forget how powerful some of our most profound, profit-producing solution really are… so HERE, once again is a simple reminder of the REAL RESULTS tat can be enjoyed by simply DOING what works on a consistent and persistent basis.

Again, having tested the results going both directions… see what I mean:

In all the most effective marketing I have always enjoyed the most success with “Price-Down” (or Take-Away) selling. REGARDLESS of the means of the message delivery mechanism! (Personal, printed, what-ever…)

HERE is the basic (albeit simple, proven principle of success!) The premise is to always start with the BIGGEST package outline (HINT: selling the big-picture outcomes!) and “THEN(after that VISION is firmly cast into their minds…) THEN, do the ‘take-always’ one item and one piece and one package at a time… hence the name “Take-Away” selling.

By polar example, If I do the most common “Price-Up” (Up-Selling) they too often stop at the lowest price, sometime the middle package, but rarely make their way all the way to the TOP (Highest Value & Price) package. – - Forget the “Mother Of All Packages” type opportunity! That will rarely, if ever happen if you start at the bottom and try to work your way UP.

Sorry, just what the experience and testing reveals.

Oh SURE, there is no such thing as a “Magic Marketing Bullet” and on some vary rare occasions it does actually make more service sense to “work-up” to the sales offer, but for the most part, the highest and best good of all parties involved (IF you do your job correctly) is in the “Price-Down” or “Take-Away” process.

=> “Price-Down” (Take-Away) always allows for a better opportunity to paint a more completed and comprehensive “Big Picture” Service Solutions Outline and Result for you and your buying re-elationship! – - – You see, they get THAT ‘picturesque rich experience’ insidiously imbedded into their minds and now are  A LOT LESS willing to ‘give up the RESULTS they imagined and truly want, need and desire’ (if you have done a good job of creating that WANT of course!) during the ‘take-away’ process.

Sure, there is a bit more to it in the over-all influence, persuasion & sales process that just that, but the basics are right there! But if you have the chance to simple work from the top-down or the bottom up, you may wish to examine and test the ramifications of each in your own success solutions business!

Success is not usually about the one or two BIG things you may or may not do. Success in life and in business is often won in the minute details of your existing habits and systems of success.

The only real technical difference between an International Gold Olympic Medalist and a athlete that never even ‘placed’ is often minute fraction of one-single-second… plan your win, win, win!

“BLOG Your Way To Success… Intro the Basics”

There is a LOT of discussion about “BLOGS” and for me, the truth is there is little reason NOT to take advantage of the current technology!

= It’s EASY!ComputerProfit
= It’s FAST!
= It’s FREE!
= It’s User Friendly.
= It’s Simple to maintain and update.
= It has LOTS of looks, feels, layouts. (Lots you can ever even tell it is a BLOG Engine at all…)
= It has Lots, and Lots, and Lots of tools, support
= It is SEO Friendly!
…etc!

Remember, I am officially a “Techno-Boob” and if I can make them work… so can YOU!

The very basic, super-simple POINT (as I have come to discover it anyway) of officially doing a BLOG is to simply deliver simply deliver “CONTENT”.

That’s IT, end of story!  – - See… I told you it was easy!

=> Now the ‘reasons’ may vary, but the purpose is still the same.

Here are some of the REASONS we may choose to BLOG:

=1) SEO: (Search Engine Optimization… that is getting FOUND on the net.)
REMEMBER; The JOB and Point of Search Engines is to deliver “current, relevant returns/results” for the search subject entered and IF you have current, relevant information for the searcher, you stand a better chance of coming up as a search return.

…it is a simple as that.

BECAUSE the purpose of the blog is content delivery, and the fact that search engines survive as a search engine by delivering ‘current, relevant content’ to the searcher, it s like a match made in heaven IF you have ‘that’ current, relevant content that the searcher is looking for… tah dah!

=2) Spamless Delivery of Content to Readers:
Because readers come to YOU (Via your RSS, links, referrals, Blog Marketing… etc) for information they want and since it is destination based, it is not ‘filtered’ by the traditional spam mechanisms. (Some of your Blog “Marketing” MAY get filtered… different subject.)

=3) Champion a Cause, Share A Passion, Grab a Soapbox: (Etc)
Blogs are FREE and EASY, (and many other advantages…) so it is a perfect opportunity for us to “shout it to the rooftops”! What ever “IT” may be for you.

* Share your unique insights…
* Teach a lesson, perspective or experiance…
* Communicate values, missions, purposes, goals, roles, and so on…
…do “your thing”!

=4) Advancing Your On & Offline Re-Elationships:
ONE way to use a BLOG is to deliver “value-added content and communication” for your readers so as to improve your relationships and marketing advantages, in part due to SEO and the fact that there are no spam filers to have to get through, the fact that blogs are free and easy… etc there is simply zero excuse tat anyone who wants to can’t have a blog…

SURE it is a good ideas ‘as marketers & solution providers’ that we have a “strategic goal and advantage” in mind, but it is not necessary to get started. You can just start if you want.

The good news is that basic AND advanced blog information is widely available on the net as to “HOW TO DO IT” at what ever level anyone wants to commit to… so what ever one wants to do is available to them.

THIS is no-way is to outline any kind of “complete” blog lesson or teaching on the subject of blogs and blog marketing, JUST trying to support the basic premise that if you want to get online fast, free and effectively, you may wish to give BLOG tools, recourses and information a try and ut them to work for you!

I also hope it does that in relatively simple, NON Techno Terms.

“Success Is A Matter of Heart!”

Happy Valentines… Success is a matter of heart!

weddingcupitcartoonLove is in the air… one of the biggest marketing holidays of our age, and those who say “I’m Not A Salesman” are out on dates, winning over relationships and ‘closing the sale’ all over this grand world of ours!

Don’t tell ME that you don’t know what it takes to be a successful salesman and marketer! “BS!!!!” And by “BS” I mean… it is all about your “Belief System”!

Whether you think you CAN or whether you think you can’t you’re RIGHT! Besides, WHO wants to win the argument for our failures?

Unfortunately, in far too many cases THAT is exactly what it boils down to too much of the time, isn’t it!?

We stop “ourselves” from doing the best and ultimately achieving the best for our business, our families and our desired lifestyle and we have NO ONE to blame but ourselves, though FEW would admit ‘that’ part!

The true measure of success is often the simple difference between doing our passion and doing our job! Often, two completely different things… hence the success problem we find ourselves in.

There is a thread of consistency in those who succeed beyond all measure and those who just get-by in this world and it is constantly a simple measure on the “passion meter”!

Having a true PASSION, a Burning Desire, a Big Why… what ever you choose to call it IS the decides difference between winners and whiners.

In the influence and persuasion game; “He Who Is the Most Certain Wins!”

What that basically means is; high levels of real congruent conviction and committed belief (BS) get the most done in large measure BECAUSE they absolutely “expect” it straight from the very core of their beating heart! They know no different but absolute congruent certainty in belief, passion, burning desire complete with all the killer reasons and references for believing and behaving in congruency with those carefully cultivated beliefs! (…and as such, deliverable outcomes and results!)

What you are willing to believe about yourself has an astounding impact on what you are willing to GO FOR in this life!

Ask yourself this:
What If you KNEW, I mean Really Knew at the Core Of Your Being That It Was IMPOSIBLE To FailWhat Would You Be Willing Got Go For?”

To Step-Out and Try… to DO!?

That my friend is a matter between you head and your heart… sometimes your ‘head’ just gets in the way and stops you with silly thoughts of success or failure!

What if you just DID What you KNOW Is Right For You and your Success??? Truth is; most of you already KNOW what that is, though you may not be willing to admit what that is out loud, but you know!

Think about it; “If you have EVER Successfully Booked a Show?”

Well then YOU KNOW How To Book A Show!

Just do that over and over gain, and yet we don’t allow it to be THAT simple… and too often; IT IS just that simple!

If you are saying to yourself right now; “But WAIT, You Don’t Know ME and My Situation…” and you are all loaded for bear as to all the reasons and excuses why this message doesn’t apply to YOU and your success! – - Or lack there of! – - It is YOU to whom I speak!

Find Your Passion and there is NOTHING that will ever be able to stop you from getting what you wantas often as you want… and as much as you want!

Love what ya do and do what ya love… then find a way to make it pay!

THAT is what almost all truly successful people do… why not YOU?

How about this:
Remember when you were pursuing the love of your life and how it consumed you totally? How you would think, eat, sleep, and drink your ‘passion’? How Nothing would stop you from achieving your wants, needs, desire, goals and targeted outcomes… well then YOU KNOW what I’m taking about!

= NO is simply NOT an option!
= This is a “MUST-HAVE” situation!
= All hand on deck… a WHAT-EVER-IT-TAKES, MISSION-CRITICLE-OUTCOME!
= Get the targeted goal or die on the side of the hill trying!!!

…remember how THAT Felt!
…what did you think about?
…what did you say to yourself an others?
…what did you focus on and Do? ALL OF IT!

That is just a quick glimpse of what doing and achieving your passion is like!

I say get off yer duff and GFI! (that’s Go For It!)

“This Success Stuff Really WORKS!”

businessladieshappyI know this is no surprise to those of you who are regulars here, but it is nice to be reminded that when we do what works, real results follow.

It is important to remember that:
= A) It’s the new year and most evaluate what is working and plan to do MORE of that.
= B) The economic and social/economic and political leadership landscape has shifted.

 Neither of those are a ‘surprise’ to you, but I am just observing and commenting on what that seams to “mean” to different people and how all that effects you and your success!

The one thing that we all can agree on is that success (how-ever each define it) is something each one of us look at and try to improve over the course of our lives!

THAT, in part is the REASON we exist! To HELP you with PROVEN, Duplicatible, Success Solutions, Insights and Experiences to make your path to your success more direct and attainable!

ONE of the things that stints the basic marketing and outreach success results for most is not so much; “How Do I Make The Sale”, but rather, “How Do I GET Highly Qualified BUYERS To (Quote/unQuote) sell to!?” (In The FIRST Place!)

Yeah, I know we don’t really “sell” when we are being most “effective”, they are BUYINGBIG difference! I know you know this… just using the vernacular for simplicity.

Today, I will introduce you to the insights and experiences of the “How-To’s” of getting those elusive, and ever-so coveted “Highly Qualified Buyers” that we crave and NEED to grow our business success and help them to get what they want need and desire!

Let’s start at the beginning… like this new year of doing thing RIGHT from the get-go… OK?

You can sell anything… online, offline, from digital products to tangible goods, from actual items to services promised, from existing things to future work. There is no limit as to what can be sold through the many avenues of the World Wide Web and beyond.

There are many techniques and tactics that can be employed to sell your products to the global market that is united by the Internet, as well as the direct, personal communication, but there is only one common denominator to all these methods when it comes to generated interest and ultimately, Highly Qualified Leads To Real Buyers!

Online… offline both, you can use strategies that can generate 10,000 visitors of interest per day. But where will you lead those visitors to? You will want to direct them to a sales (effectively copy written information) page for the product or service you are offering.

This sales page has but one major purpose: to persuade your visitors to raise their hands and enter into the “process” with you and, of course, ultimately buy from you because You have the solution the serves them best!

“VALUE Your Way To Success!”

Especially in today’s economic climate and the ‘perception’ of uncertainty, “VALUE” is and ever-more important component of success!

I know you’ve heard me ‘harp’ on the principle of success of adding value time and time again and NOW it is more important to let people KNOW you are a professional who understand and applies the virtue of value!

Truism:
“The More VALUE Your Create, The More Money (Reward) You’ll Make!”

This is not JUST a saying, but this ‘is’ a lifestyle choice for those who are consistently and persistently successful regardless of the so-called economic climate one way or the other!

Neither am I suggesting that anyone prostitute themselves for the sake of a few bucks… No Way!

KNOW YOUR WORTH, create massive value and if you ‘market’ it properly and effectively, you will not ‘want’ for all the work you can handle!

Sure, it take effort and it takes education… we say it takes “LUCK” (Labor Under Correct Knowledge!) to get it done, and I AGREE!

What are some of the ways that YOU “Add Value” and how do you make sure hat your target audience KNOWS that is true about you?

HERE are at-least 3 ways I support and add value in a few different areas of my life and business:

“Supply and Demand… BS!”

A question came up that I know we ALL have asked at one point or another in our careers as magician’s, marketers and more importantly, “Business Professionals”! I thought I would take a moment and share my answer HERE…

The question was basically asked “how we create value and then appropriately charge for the value we create…”

So HERE we go again, the ‘never-ending-question’ regarding price, value & worth!

The basic answer is “Supply & Demand” and each are “worth” what:
= A) You are willing to ASK for. (Confidently with credibility and show appropriate value)

…and

= B) What buyers are willing to spend.

That said, allow me to redress those statements for the sake of clarity.

= A) You are willing to ASK for.
Isn’t it amazing that in the exact same market, all thing being relatively equal, that SOME are constantly getting MORE for every gig (and often more of them, if they so choose) while OTHERS still seam to be struggling to get “the so-called market rate”.

Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmmmm.

The answer usually boils down to two simple factors. Both “VERY” fixable.
= 1: Mindset and personal self worth, also known as B.S.!
(Belief System)
YES, what YOU “believe” you are worth in the market and in any given situation greatly determines what and how you are rewarded for the time, talent and treasure you expend.

We already know that some get more while others do notwhy? (Again, when all things being approximately relative in the eyes and minds of the buyers. – BIG TIP!)

I GET what I ask for because:
= I KNOW I am delivering massive value for the investment!
= I KNOW what my time, talent and treasure are WORTH today!
…and so on.

The RULE is:
“The More VALUE You Create, The More Money (Reward) Your Will Make!”

The thing is, YOU have to “believe” that the VALUE you create is worth what-ever it’s worththat is a “mindset” thing.

SIMPLE, though not always “easy” to fix, BUT fixable! It is the same reason you no longer charge $25 to $75 bucks for your show as you might-have as a ‘kid’ (or what-ever you FIRST charged… work with me here!) because you have grown as a performer, as a person and in your BS… it is that simple.

Like I said, SIMPLE and the BEST NEWS is, that is 110% Up To YOU!

NO ONE ‘else’ sets your pricing… NOT even the economy when you “understand” the power of your own BS!

“Some” will understand and agree, “others” will call me daft… see, it’s a BS thing!

= B) What buyers are willing to spend.
The killer news here is the YOU have 99% Control over this consideration!

Here is the common sense, super obvious comment/question/statement:
Would you ever expect people with low or no money to spend tons on something they can’t afford and by n’ large don’t NEED to ‘survive’???

OF COURSE NOT!

So WHY is it that we “insist” on trying to get “blood from a turnip” or “beat water out of a rock” when we know there is none there!

This is what we expect to do when we market to people who are NOT our currant market share. WHO CARES if they “used to be” out market??? Times change and the economy has shifted (DUH! And yet we seam to be STUCK IN STUPID trying to get money where there is none! (or very little for US currently anyway)

This must make sense at least in your head, right?

Now I understand that you may not LIKE this truth, but the FACTS are that the ‘economic shift’ is that we KEEP trying to get money from those who are re-directing into their gas tanks in larger quantities or to say in their homes or, or, or, or…

Oh there is money still “out-there”, (just look at my last several posts below!) it has just “moved/shifted” and like cheese, we need to sniff it out, but it’s THERE! JUST notice how “The SOME” who ARE getting the money, ARE “still getting the money”… again, common sense, that’s all! If you were to be HONEST WITH YOURSELF, you already KNOW this… but “change ain’t always easy”. Or at-least that is the excuse we use, right?

Either they have the money and are willing to spend it, or they don’t… how easy is that??? FIND the ones who ARE and make your irresistible offer to THEM and TRIVE when others are barely surviving!

Something about buyer’s perception: (quickly)
= YOU can help shape that perception.
That is just as simple as effective, proven “marketing, persuasion know how” and it CAN be learned, and in pretty short order if you apply yourself! (can you say “Library & The Internet!” Start at TDL, Hint, Hint!)

Heck, I know several right here who have gone from literally “zero to hero” in less than one, two and three years, so I KNOW it can be done… I’ve seen it MANY, MANY times!

YOU guys have a killer advantage… you’ve all done it before! (Remember those old $50.00 shows as a kid? …or what-ever!) Well it’s simple time to move on and move UP the ladder is all.

So remember:
= A) ASK for what you are worth and learn to be worth more!
…and
= B) SHOW how the “value” you create is worthy of spending lots and lots of money on!

At first blush, it may “LOOK-LIKE” a thread about copy-writing a letter that get’s proven results when it is really about… well, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions and figure that one out for yourself… OK?

In about a weeks time and 3 amazing “first-tries” at putting together a powerful, profit making outreach marketing piece and the “process” has revealed quite a bit of truth that we ALL need to be reminded of…

HERE is a quick post I offered that has 13 Lucky Tips for producing an effective marketing outreach piece that will get results based on 35+ years of experience… OH, and by the way, there is ONE tip that with-out it, the rest of the tips are all but useless marketing psycho-babble!

A few more little things that will help in the response rate.

=1) Use “quotation marks” around your headline… it has proven to increases response.

=2) Using a ‘grabber’ (The Shoelace, or what-ever) IS a good idea. You may wish to consider adding it back in with the changes suggested in the last round.

=3) Centering your “sub-heads” along the way increases response. Maybe even a color change if you are working IN COLOR.

=4) You may wish to “introduce yourself”: (and refer to yourself in THE FIRST Person)
i.e. “Hi, my name is Scott and I am a recognized expert at helping Kids, teacher and schools with… let me show you how…” (etc…) Also as Rick said…

=5) Again, offer and add in as many BENEFITS to the reader/buyer as possible to keep them engaged, interested and reading your ENTIRE letter, offer, benefits, call to action and ultimately “Comply With Your ‘Irresistible’ Offer”!

=6) YES… social proof, credentials, endorsements, initials… etc!

=7) YES… testimonials, even if you need to ‘borrow’ from “your” other presentation business. (NEVER Make Up Testimonials!) Some of your better quotes from your other performances and appropriately ‘apply’ them to THIS letter where they fit an belong.

Pull a few quotes regarding YOU and the quality of ‘character’ your over all ‘performance’ and/or ‘the satisfaction of your audiences’ respectively… I’m SURE you have some of those! Use em’!

= 8 ) As Rick said, “Captions and Frames” with all your “news-like” pictures… the kids one the hiking one etc… (In this case, the squared edge photos) Again, think in terms of what the READER/BUYER wants to know and is of benefit to THEM.

=9) IF you are going to use “urgency” (Contact Scott today… this offer ends Sept 15… etc) then you may wish to GIVE THEM A REASON for the urgency that will cost them if they do NOT and benefit them when they DO comply with your offer…

=10) USE a PS… even if it only to recap, but USE one! They are THAT powerful!

= 11) You may wish to offer an “incentive/bonus/gift” for compliance that they will NOT get if they fail to respond.

=12) You may wish to send them to “the next step in your re-elationship proccess” after they have “raised their hand” instead of sending them straight to the mouth of the lion as far as THEY are concerned!

HINT: A “Non-Confrontational-First-Contact” that IS NOT A SALESMAN (That is what THEY think when you say “call ME for more information) and is a softer, middles step that will help ‘qualify’ them by offering a FREE Report or a FREE Recorded Message Hotline… etc

=12-b) OR at-least get them to raise their hand for a GIFT of some kind along with their compliance offer to call you…

=12-c) As the guys said… “Multiple Means Of Response” wish is usually at-least 3 ways to respond.

Sure you can use letters, you can use your web-sites, you can use all manor of marketing, but after it’s all said and done, when the dust settles “HUMAN CONTACT and Re-Elationship Marketing, Support, Persuasion, Influence and Encouragement” will always outperform, out pull, and deliver more solid, tractable RESULTS for you, for them and for your mutual success!

ALL of your “marketing” should do one thing:
“Advance The Trust Bond & Re-Elationship” and “Deliver The Wants, Needs, desires and Outcomes” creating an irresistible desire in your reader/buyer to reward you for helping the get what they need! ALL of this “Marketing” is only as effective as it’s ability to do just that… build trust re-elationships, and help others get what they need… period.

When you learn to do THAT, you will have all the work, the lifestyle benefits, the perks and the quality of life you’ve always dreamed about.

One thing that has always bothered me about Zig’s, now famous, and oft quoted statement is the implication that you should just go around helping others obtain whatever they desire without them putting up anything in return for the help.

So I thought I would share with our not yet members “part” of this discussion:

I agree with you Rick. Yeah, like that is a big surprise! (Hehehehe!)

The thing about “Helping Other get What they Want, Need and Desire” is MAKING SURE you truly HELP them, NOT “HURT-THEM” or “do it for them”! (Darn it all, the “Price Of The Prize” thing again!) …and MOST of the time that means:
= A) Telling them the Honest To God TRUTH! (In love and respect.)
= B) “Help” them EARN it… which is different than DOING IT for them!
= C) Stop ‘enabling’ them… (kind like “B”, and different all at the same time)
= D) Share the truth of “Responsibility and Accountability and Ongoing Education”.
= E) Support them “appropriately”, then get out the way of their success and let them go!
…there s more, but you get the idea!

Sometimes “helping others get what they want, need and desire” is demanding more of them than THEY are willing to demand of themselves. (…that is NOT being mean, rude, controlling or egocentric!)

Sometimes “helping others get what they want, need and desire” is insisting that they “catch-up” and get with the program (again, in love and with respect!) before you give them the keys to the kingdom when they may not have the insights, character and development yet to “handle” the keys yet.

EXAMPLE:
I had a friend who wanted to go full time when he was clearly NOT ready!

Oh sure, he had a killer “act”! Truth be told, his “act” was better than most full timers working today, but he was still faaaaaar from READY for full-timing!

= A) He had little or no discernibly effective marketing in place. He had NO proven “system” for earning the so-called full time living he wanted… didn’t EARN, but just “wanted”. – “WANT” is not always enough!

= B) He had a growing family and yet he had NO savings or any kind of an “emergency fund” (6 months to 3 years worth of ‘expenses IN THE BANK! Just In Case!) and a PILE of consumer debt and no plan or the means to pay it off!

= C) He was planning on taking out a Huuuuuge Bank/Mortgage loan to support his ‘day-dream’ with NO plan, No Marketing, No Written Goal or outcome plan in place… he would never even know if he ever arrived cuz he did NOT have a “M.A.P.” (Massive ACTION Plan!) for his journey!

Heck, he was barely a hobbyist-level income earner and he was gunna go FULL TIME?

NO, I don’t think so! Sadly, He was not even CLOSE!

So the REAL question becomes:
Would I Be really HELPING HIM” if I just built his marketing and showed him everything he needed to know to leave his family in the dust when he was clearly NOT ready, nor did he have the experience, discipline, character to earn a full time lifestyle???

NO WAY! That is NOT “helping”, that is enabling an addiction! In this case the addiction is the “illusion” that a good act alone is good enough, when it is NOT!

Heck, it even cost me that relationship, (for quite a while) but I loved him enough (still do) that I was willing to surrender my relationship with him to support the TRUTH (I was not rude, controling or mean… just honest) of his situation for he and his family!

Ultimately, he made the wholly unprepared leap anyway and is now divorced and out of work, “starving artist” living on welfare up to his eyeballs in debit and fully NOT living the well deserved life he is capable of!

Sad, no one else will see or appreciate him or his talent and “killer act” because of that sort of selfishness either!

Talk about your “LOSE, Lose, lose” type situation!

On the other hand, there have been literally thousands of folks that HAVE earned the right to win the HELP and Support they deserve and were willing to earn!

ANYONE “CAN”, lots DO and some do not… such is life! “You can’t FORCE people to be the success they can and well should be” if only they are willing to do what is necessary to accomplish their “Goals, PLANS and Dreams”… but there is a “Price For EVERY Prize” and one of those prices we all need to pay is helping others get more of what they want need and desire! – Like it or not!

Yep… Zig DID have it right! Notice he never said that “You Can Have All You Want If Only You FORCE Enough Other People Get What They WANT Regardless of Whether They Are READY For It Or Not…”

The entire “Price Of The Prize” principle actually reads:

“There Is A Price For EVERY Prize!
= It’s Always Personal
= It’s Always Costly
= It is NOT Negotiable
…and Only YOU Can Pay That Price!”

This is an “OLD” ideal that was re-written in Chris Carey’s amazing Book, “The Price Of The Prize” (Totally worth an annual read!) and well predates his reminding of it all, but still holds true today and on into the future! We would all do well to be reminded regularly of this TRUTH on a regular basis.
