“Online Vs. Offline Marketing… Re-Elationships Still RULE!!”

BusinessWWWHandAs always, I was discussing some success principles with a friend (I have lots of friends!) via private messaging on My FaceBook Page and he was asking about some ideas about “ONLINE, Social Media Marketing” and so I replied and I though I’d share some of the simple ideas I shared with him as well…

Hey Brother Xxxxx,

This FaceBook thing still delights and mystifies me all at the same time and though I am faaaaaar from anything like an expert on ‘social networking’, BUT I am a ‘social guy’ by nature so I have been able to get real work from some of theses sites, though I will be honest, it was not my main goal or intent.

I am currently (for the past 2 years or so) been ‘immersing’ myself in SEO, SEM and all things marketing success online and though I have done some significant testing, I have yet to ‘crack the code’ perfectly per say.

I HAVE gotten some significant results for sure in my ‘testing’, but up until recently, I VERY Specifically wanted to be ‘invisible’ to the search engines. (Hint: I STILL Target the PEOPLE I choose to do business with!)

LOTS has changes in how people find us and I am slooooowly, but surly making the shift. The ‘test-sites’ I have been playing with seam to rock, but like I said, I am no expert.

I AM in two separate Internet Marketing training events this week (actually every week for a dozen weeks each or so…) so I am learning and applying more n’ more as I test this stuff for myself.

Not planning on becoming an ‘expert or guru’, just figuring out this stuff for myself and my coaching members.

I still rely on my old-fashioned “Success Solutions Provider” paradigm and the “Re-Elationship Marketing Success” that has served me so well offline and I will be truthful, THOSE Very Same resources have served me BEST online as well…

I still have a ton to learn, but helping people get more of what THEY want need and desire transcends ALL medias!

Follow your heart and educate yourself as best you can… it’ll all work out for you my friend! There is no big ‘mystery’ to doing the right thing and being nice while service the good folks you support!

Happy Independence Day (July 4th) to all of you on the “Northern American Continent”, and ANYONE who dreams of and loves real FREEDOM to achieve what-ever it is you dream to accomplish!!

Even the Freedom to Succeed!

This to me, is somewhat of a word-picture for our success in this business as well. Some are willing to DO “WHAT EVER IT TAKES” to have their success, freedoms, dreams, goals and outcomes, while others have yet to stop merely wishing & whining but simply have not the moxie to DO what others are/were willing to do, and go against the establishment in search of their own freedom and success!

…but it was NOT with out a price. The costs were, are and will continue to be great!

During the Independence Revolution and the birth of a new nation, some of the costs were; “Not to have, FREEDOM;” from treason, from war, from fear the unknown, opposition to established norms, beliefs, oppressive ruler reign and so on!

Sounds devastating eh?

Yet we hold ourselves in bondage and peril ever day! – - May I suggest that as we reflect on our own won freedoms of the past (at great price I will add!) that we take this opportunity to shout our own DECLERATION of liberties, freedoms and yes, INDEPENDENCE, not only as nationists, but as individuals yearning to breath free where-ever you reside on this big blue ball called earth!

Free to be all that we can be! FREE to earn and enjoy the lifestyle of our dreams! Our hopes, our aspirations, our wants, our needs desires to achieve great things!

= One Question:
What Is Stopping You Now?
What oppressions, what fears, what intolerable reign and rule is holding you back?

WHY is it that most (still) are like the oppressed of the past and were clearly NOT willing to give-up all the whining and simply step-out and DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES to EARN your most coveted dreams and desires! Achieve your most ardent aspirations!

We need a WAR-CRY if we are to fight the injustices, right the wrongs, set the bandaged FREE! Earn our SUCCESS!

“Who Moved The Magical Cheese!?”

Pre-S: (that is like a PS, but before… ha!)
This truth will ‘challenge’ some more than others… some will launch scud missiles into this share (based on result and proven experience by the way…) insisting that there is a deadly reccession, while others may look on with queried eyes and still others will stand and applaud for the obvious truths being offered and shared here… you have been warned!

If you have not read the classic business tale “Who Moved My Cheese?” by Spencer Johnson, I suggest you really do so if you and an entertaining and yet truthful, pragmatic look at what is going on in the business and economic world today… though it was written many years ago; the answer is still pretty simple really!

CheeseMazeBlkYES, my friends… “The Cheese Has been Moved!”

The Problem:
Two completely juxtaposed schools of though when it comes to entrepreneurs and the economy.

The Situation:
= 1) There definitely IS a knuckle-busting recession and the pool is running dry! (Oh, and the sky is falling… did ya’ hear? Run for cover! hehehe!)

…and

=2) The “Cheese” is still in the maze, it has simply been moved!

Loosely translated, that means that people ARE, in fact still spending money, but the ‘rules’ of value exchange have changed.

The SOLUTION:
Oh, the cheese is still THERE, it’s just in a different position in the maze so to speak.

YES, It is most defiantly THERE, has just been simply MOVED is all.

While SOME are running around crying ‘poor-me’, the consistently successful are clearly enjoying better year(s).

As we have said here many times before, ‘merely survive or Wildly Thrive!”? – In short, business is still GROWING!

This is always true in shifting economic times… it is just history!

The point is, folks still are spending money! Plenty of it! They are smply ‘investing’ for different reasons and much more ‘particularly’. – - Which is a GOOD thing, as I see it anyway! I have been ‘preaching, teaching and nagging’ this would happen over the last 10 years! We just finally hit ‘The Tipping Point’ is all… and here we are!

If you are still suffering from the illusion that people just “buy the stuff you have to sell…”, YOU will likely never find the cheese!

People are looking for solutions to THEIR most pressing wants, needs, cares, concerns and desired outcomes! Period!

People simply “WANT What They Want, When and How THEY Want It”! ‘THEN and only then’ will they invest in the solutions and outcomes YOU may have if they truly believe that you have what THEY most want, need and desire!

Chalk one more up in the WIN column for “Value Added, Re-Elationship Marketing!”

Isn’t THAT the way it should ALWAYS BE?
= Free Enterprise!
= Fair Market Forces!
= Supply & Demand!
…the “Solutions Provider Paradigm!”

Sound familiar?

It SHOULD, it is what we have been screaming at the top of my lungs since we have been sharing success out-loud, online; and for me, since about the time I learned to walk & talk! (Yea, ok, might have been an annoying kid! – Hehehehehehe!)

Oh I know what some of you are saying… You STILL ARE! – Ha!

Maybe so, but it’s more true today than maybe it ever has been in my lifetime, and its only gunna get “MORE TRUE!” Hey, no use denying it!

Simply put We don’t GET PAID for selling our products and services, we get REWARDED for providing VALUE and a “Proven Solution” to people and their most pressing considerations!

How much more plain can I be?

So if you want to WIN in this economy, you will need to:
=> CREATE VALUE and “Locate The Cheese”
=> LEARN how people are looking at the ‘way’ they choose to invest there time, talent and treasure theses days.
=> THEN you will soon figure out how to “generate the value” that unlocks the vault to the financial success paradigm for all citizens of the maze of life.

Simply stated:
Find ways to take what YOU DO to HELP OTHERS do (or get) more of what THEY want, need or desire and ‘POOF’, everyone now has a huge pile of cheese savor and to enjoy!

Obviously, by n’ large this IS a different way of doing business for most folks, or we would NOT be in the ‘blind cheese hunter’ condition that some find themselves in today, right?

This is the WAY that The Best, Brightest and Most Effective Professional Business Experts make the world rotate… they Add Massive VALUE and get Rewarded Accordingly!

Truth is; those experts are NOT having a so-called ‘recession’ crises at alljust a simple cheese hunt is all.

Even MORE Simply Put:
“The More VALUE You Create, The More Money You’ll Make!” (Sound Familiar?)

Happy Valentines… Success is a matter of heart!

weddingcupitcartoonLove is in the air… one of the biggest marketing holidays of our age, and those who say “I’m Not A Salesman” are out on dates, winning over relationships and ‘closing the sale’ all over this grand world of ours!

Don’t tell ME that you don’t know what it takes to be a successful salesman and marketer! “BS!!!!” And by “BS” I mean… it is all about your “Belief System”!

Whether you think you CAN or whether you think you can’t you’re RIGHT! Besides, WHO wants to win the argument for our failures?

Unfortunately, in far too many cases THAT is exactly what it boils down to too much of the time, isn’t it!?

We stop “ourselves” from doing the best and ultimately achieving the best for our business, our families and our desired lifestyle and we have NO ONE to blame but ourselves, though FEW would admit ‘that’ part!

The true measure of success is often the simple difference between doing our passion and doing our job! Often, two completely different things… hence the success problem we find ourselves in.

There is a thread of consistency in those who succeed beyond all measure and those who just get-by in this world and it is constantly a simple measure on the “passion meter”!

Having a true PASSION, a Burning Desire, a Big Why… what ever you choose to call it IS the decides difference between winners and whiners.

In the influence and persuasion game; “He Who Is the Most Certain Wins!”

What that basically means is; high levels of real congruent conviction and committed belief (BS) get the most done in large measure BECAUSE they absolutely “expect” it straight from the very core of their beating heart! They know no different but absolute congruent certainty in belief, passion, burning desire complete with all the killer reasons and references for believing and behaving in congruency with those carefully cultivated beliefs! (…and as such, deliverable outcomes and results!)

What you are willing to believe about yourself has an astounding impact on what you are willing to GO FOR in this life!

Ask yourself this:
What If you KNEW, I mean Really Knew at the Core Of Your Being That It Was IMPOSIBLE To FailWhat Would You Be Willing Got Go For?”

To Step-Out and Try… to DO!?

That my friend is a matter between you head and your heart… sometimes your ‘head’ just gets in the way and stops you with silly thoughts of success or failure!

What if you just DID What you KNOW Is Right For You and your Success??? Truth is; most of you already KNOW what that is, though you may not be willing to admit what that is out loud, but you know!

Think about it; “If you have EVER Successfully Booked a Show?”

Well then YOU KNOW How To Book A Show!

Just do that over and over gain, and yet we don’t allow it to be THAT simple… and too often; IT IS just that simple!

If you are saying to yourself right now; “But WAIT, You Don’t Know ME and My Situation…” and you are all loaded for bear as to all the reasons and excuses why this message doesn’t apply to YOU and your success! – - Or lack there of! – - It is YOU to whom I speak!

Find Your Passion and there is NOTHING that will ever be able to stop you from getting what you wantas often as you want… and as much as you want!

Love what ya do and do what ya love… then find a way to make it pay!

THAT is what almost all truly successful people do… why not YOU?

How about this:
Remember when you were pursuing the love of your life and how it consumed you totally? How you would think, eat, sleep, and drink your ‘passion’? How Nothing would stop you from achieving your wants, needs, desire, goals and targeted outcomes… well then YOU KNOW what I’m taking about!

= NO is simply NOT an option!
= This is a “MUST-HAVE” situation!
= All hand on deck… a WHAT-EVER-IT-TAKES, MISSION-CRITICLE-OUTCOME!
= Get the targeted goal or die on the side of the hill trying!!!

…remember how THAT Felt!
…what did you think about?
…what did you say to yourself an others?
…what did you focus on and Do? ALL OF IT!

That is just a quick glimpse of what doing and achieving your passion is like!

I say get off yer duff and GFI! (that’s Go For It!)

“Success Still Working!” Copywriting

businesspenmanOn the Internet, and in sales letters, buyers can only rely on printed words. Unlike in real life where they can actually man their stores, answer queries personally, and establish rapport with people one-on-one through their pleasant disposition, online businessmen are restricted to written words in conveying their business messages… well that’s not entirely true.  – - As we all know, technology now allows us a broad range of influence mediums by which to introduce, inform and influence our visitors, but THAT is another lesson…

And they are restricted to written words when it comes to convincing their prospects to make some response. (Hence the name “Direct RESONSE” Marketing!)

Now, the internet, as many experts claim, is a sales page-driven industry. The success of a product depends on the strength of the sales page that is promoting it.

A lousy sales page (Too Long, Too Short, Poorly Written… etc) will mean the death of a good product match to a good buying audience. But a great sales page can even make an average product or solution a hot seller.

…oh the magic of marketing!

Because of this, successful commerce has become synonymous with excellent persuasion skills through written means. The art of writing persuasive marketing materials is called copywriting.

Copywriting is one of the primary skills that a businessman will have to master to make it big in the world of business regardless of your medium. (Live, In Writing and/or Online… etc)

Of course, many marketers would rather leave this task in the hands of professionals.

There are hundreds of effective, professional copywriters who are plying their trade on the all over the place. They have studied and trained for years in honing their craft to a fine razors edge cutting thought the marketing clutter to leave a deep and lasting impression. And as such, a majority of them may charge thousands of dollars for their services, an amount that can be considered as justifiable given the complexities of copywriting as a high level skill AND, of course, the RESULTS offered and produced!

As a business professional most will have to prepare many sales pages throughout their on and offline marketing careers.

Every product, service, solution, marketing campaign and outcome will likely necessitate well-written and persuasive copy. HECK, smart success professionals understand and ply this to every effective marketing piece going out he door… YES, even a powerful marketing solder such as a real “BUSINESS Card!” as apposed the ever-present Calling Card alone that most are familiar with that produce little discernable results!

PLEASE, Do NOT let this be YOU!

Every offer promoted via a Unique Selling Advantage (USA) will need a special well defined and refined effective set of copy!

Every mailing list, offer, JV, Affiliate (etc…) will need a well written info that will effectively persuade people to raise their hand and identify themselves or take some spacific ACTION/RESPONCE! –Marketing is indeed an effective copy-driven industry. (When Done Correctly and Most Profitably!) Because of this, every marketer will have to learn the rudiments of effective copywriting for each target audience.

 

NEXT we will look at ‘specifics’ including tools, resources and proven powerfully profitable insights for doing just that!

“It’s ‘Technically’ Success!” – (Technology & Business)

ONE: As you know, (below) I have just started a series that will take us back to the basics. The foundations of our success are weakening and so I though that we could use a hearty reminder that the building blocks of success still work! (See Below and soon above…)

TWO: An interesting concept came up on one of the “other” BUSINESS Success Sites that I frequent that I though worthy of discussion here.

Of course I will NOT expose any of the confidences from that “Inner Circle” group of professionals but since it was I who raised the originating question regarding how our basic business paradigm and practices are ‘impacted’ by the internet and the emerging technology, I though I would ask this elite group of professionals that same question!

SURE, the main-stay of my success is still in the re-elationship marketing and arts, but this technology has added (much to my early-on surprise!)  ALLOT to my own personal shifts in business as well as in my personal life… both BIG-TIME and I have not taken full advantage of even the basics yet!

A TON of this has impacted my business, social and daily routines…

“Supply and Demand… BS!”

A question came up that I know we ALL have asked at one point or another in our careers as magician’s, marketers and more importantly, “Business Professionals”! I thought I would take a moment and share my answer HERE…

The question was basically asked “how we create value and then appropriately charge for the value we create…”

So HERE we go again, the ‘never-ending-question’ regarding price, value & worth!

The basic answer is “Supply & Demand” and each are “worth” what:
= A) You are willing to ASK for. (Confidently with credibility and show appropriate value)

…and

= B) What buyers are willing to spend.

That said, allow me to redress those statements for the sake of clarity.

= A) You are willing to ASK for.
Isn’t it amazing that in the exact same market, all thing being relatively equal, that SOME are constantly getting MORE for every gig (and often more of them, if they so choose) while OTHERS still seam to be struggling to get “the so-called market rate”.

Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmmmm.

The answer usually boils down to two simple factors. Both “VERY” fixable.
= 1: Mindset and personal self worth, also known as B.S.!
(Belief System)
YES, what YOU “believe” you are worth in the market and in any given situation greatly determines what and how you are rewarded for the time, talent and treasure you expend.

We already know that some get more while others do notwhy? (Again, when all things being approximately relative in the eyes and minds of the buyers. – BIG TIP!)

I GET what I ask for because:
= I KNOW I am delivering massive value for the investment!
= I KNOW what my time, talent and treasure are WORTH today!
…and so on.

The RULE is:
“The More VALUE You Create, The More Money (Reward) Your Will Make!”

The thing is, YOU have to “believe” that the VALUE you create is worth what-ever it’s worththat is a “mindset” thing.

SIMPLE, though not always “easy” to fix, BUT fixable! It is the same reason you no longer charge $25 to $75 bucks for your show as you might-have as a ‘kid’ (or what-ever you FIRST charged… work with me here!) because you have grown as a performer, as a person and in your BS… it is that simple.

Like I said, SIMPLE and the BEST NEWS is, that is 110% Up To YOU!

NO ONE ‘else’ sets your pricing… NOT even the economy when you “understand” the power of your own BS!

“Some” will understand and agree, “others” will call me daft… see, it’s a BS thing!

= B) What buyers are willing to spend.
The killer news here is the YOU have 99% Control over this consideration!

Here is the common sense, super obvious comment/question/statement:
Would you ever expect people with low or no money to spend tons on something they can’t afford and by n’ large don’t NEED to ‘survive’???

OF COURSE NOT!

So WHY is it that we “insist” on trying to get “blood from a turnip” or “beat water out of a rock” when we know there is none there!

This is what we expect to do when we market to people who are NOT our currant market share. WHO CARES if they “used to be” out market??? Times change and the economy has shifted (DUH! And yet we seam to be STUCK IN STUPID trying to get money where there is none! (or very little for US currently anyway)

This must make sense at least in your head, right?

Now I understand that you may not LIKE this truth, but the FACTS are that the ‘economic shift’ is that we KEEP trying to get money from those who are re-directing into their gas tanks in larger quantities or to say in their homes or, or, or, or…

Oh there is money still “out-there”, (just look at my last several posts below!) it has just “moved/shifted” and like cheese, we need to sniff it out, but it’s THERE! JUST notice how “The SOME” who ARE getting the money, ARE “still getting the money”… again, common sense, that’s all! If you were to be HONEST WITH YOURSELF, you already KNOW this… but “change ain’t always easy”. Or at-least that is the excuse we use, right?

Either they have the money and are willing to spend it, or they don’t… how easy is that??? FIND the ones who ARE and make your irresistible offer to THEM and TRIVE when others are barely surviving!

Something about buyer’s perception: (quickly)
= YOU can help shape that perception.
That is just as simple as effective, proven “marketing, persuasion know how” and it CAN be learned, and in pretty short order if you apply yourself! (can you say “Library & The Internet!” Start at TDL, Hint, Hint!)

Heck, I know several right here who have gone from literally “zero to hero” in less than one, two and three years, so I KNOW it can be done… I’ve seen it MANY, MANY times!

YOU guys have a killer advantage… you’ve all done it before! (Remember those old $50.00 shows as a kid? …or what-ever!) Well it’s simple time to move on and move UP the ladder is all.

So remember:
= A) ASK for what you are worth and learn to be worth more!
…and
= B) SHOW how the “value” you create is worthy of spending lots and lots of money on!

One thing that has always bothered me about Zig’s, now famous, and oft quoted statement is the implication that you should just go around helping others obtain whatever they desire without them putting up anything in return for the help.

So I thought I would share with our not yet members “part” of this discussion:

I agree with you Rick. Yeah, like that is a big surprise! (Hehehehe!)

The thing about “Helping Other get What they Want, Need and Desire” is MAKING SURE you truly HELP them, NOT “HURT-THEM” or “do it for them”! (Darn it all, the “Price Of The Prize” thing again!) …and MOST of the time that means:
= A) Telling them the Honest To God TRUTH! (In love and respect.)
= B) “Help” them EARN it… which is different than DOING IT for them!
= C) Stop ‘enabling’ them… (kind like “B”, and different all at the same time)
= D) Share the truth of “Responsibility and Accountability and Ongoing Education”.
= E) Support them “appropriately”, then get out the way of their success and let them go!
…there s more, but you get the idea!

Sometimes “helping others get what they want, need and desire” is demanding more of them than THEY are willing to demand of themselves. (…that is NOT being mean, rude, controlling or egocentric!)

Sometimes “helping others get what they want, need and desire” is insisting that they “catch-up” and get with the program (again, in love and with respect!) before you give them the keys to the kingdom when they may not have the insights, character and development yet to “handle” the keys yet.

EXAMPLE:
I had a friend who wanted to go full time when he was clearly NOT ready!

Oh sure, he had a killer “act”! Truth be told, his “act” was better than most full timers working today, but he was still faaaaaar from READY for full-timing!

= A) He had little or no discernibly effective marketing in place. He had NO proven “system” for earning the so-called full time living he wanted… didn’t EARN, but just “wanted”. – “WANT” is not always enough!

= B) He had a growing family and yet he had NO savings or any kind of an “emergency fund” (6 months to 3 years worth of ‘expenses IN THE BANK! Just In Case!) and a PILE of consumer debt and no plan or the means to pay it off!

= C) He was planning on taking out a Huuuuuge Bank/Mortgage loan to support his ‘day-dream’ with NO plan, No Marketing, No Written Goal or outcome plan in place… he would never even know if he ever arrived cuz he did NOT have a “M.A.P.” (Massive ACTION Plan!) for his journey!

Heck, he was barely a hobbyist-level income earner and he was gunna go FULL TIME?

NO, I don’t think so! Sadly, He was not even CLOSE!

So the REAL question becomes:
Would I Be really HELPING HIM” if I just built his marketing and showed him everything he needed to know to leave his family in the dust when he was clearly NOT ready, nor did he have the experience, discipline, character to earn a full time lifestyle???

NO WAY! That is NOT “helping”, that is enabling an addiction! In this case the addiction is the “illusion” that a good act alone is good enough, when it is NOT!

Heck, it even cost me that relationship, (for quite a while) but I loved him enough (still do) that I was willing to surrender my relationship with him to support the TRUTH (I was not rude, controling or mean… just honest) of his situation for he and his family!

Ultimately, he made the wholly unprepared leap anyway and is now divorced and out of work, “starving artist” living on welfare up to his eyeballs in debit and fully NOT living the well deserved life he is capable of!

Sad, no one else will see or appreciate him or his talent and “killer act” because of that sort of selfishness either!

Talk about your “LOSE, Lose, lose” type situation!

On the other hand, there have been literally thousands of folks that HAVE earned the right to win the HELP and Support they deserve and were willing to earn!

ANYONE “CAN”, lots DO and some do not… such is life! “You can’t FORCE people to be the success they can and well should be” if only they are willing to do what is necessary to accomplish their “Goals, PLANS and Dreams”… but there is a “Price For EVERY Prize” and one of those prices we all need to pay is helping others get more of what they want need and desire! – Like it or not!

Yep… Zig DID have it right! Notice he never said that “You Can Have All You Want If Only You FORCE Enough Other People Get What They WANT Regardless of Whether They Are READY For It Or Not…”

The entire “Price Of The Prize” principle actually reads:

“There Is A Price For EVERY Prize!
= It’s Always Personal
= It’s Always Costly
= It is NOT Negotiable
…and Only YOU Can Pay That Price!”

This is an “OLD” ideal that was re-written in Chris Carey’s amazing Book, “The Price Of The Prize” (Totally worth an annual read!) and well predates his reminding of it all, but still holds true today and on into the future! We would all do well to be reminded regularly of this TRUTH on a regular basis.

“Doing What WORKS… Helping More People! Like It Or Not!”

This is a one of my more “healthy” shares… but worth it! – Dig-In and Enjoy! You can even “discuss it” if you would like to… now on with the success!

Cashing In on Casino Magic!


(But it is the same for every market!)

Most of you know that I have NOT big a big fan of mailing out piles long-form, direct response (Usually Lead Generation) letters as described in most the of the “Marketing Courses”, including the onslaught of the same for magician’s.

SURE I know it WORKS, (proven!) but due to the form of “marketing to the affluent” that I do, it is more of the relational nature. Instead of targeting big groups of buyers in the “magnetic marketing” model, I rather like to target my direct relationships on a highly targeted, very individualized basis.

That is just me…

I have outlined this proven success “process” over the years for our family of members on “The Dean’s List, Your University of Success!” Check it out THERE, Free!

Please understand me correctly, though I am not a “fan” of the long-form sales letter, “pre-relationship”, I AM definitely SOLD-OUT when it comes to using the principles & proven tools of influence and persuasion in powerful persuasive copyno matter how long it takes to convey all the features and benefits of the message intended for each targeted reader.

Yet another example from THIS WEEK proves my point:

One of my re-elationships from another casino (who did NOT have hiring power, by the way… just a super nice guy!) moved into the General Manager & CFO position of a another big casino so when it came time to research entertainment and marketing promotions, he remembered the great work I did for the original casino.

* THREE tips there:
= Number One:
I considered him one of many “friends” I have developed even though he was not my direct buyer/boss from the other casino… He was the manager of accounting… he always process my checks over the last 15 years at this “first” casino. Funny story about THAT as well… in just a moment. (that I STILL work at to this very day, by the way! – 3 times this week alone!)

= Number Two:
It really pays to be genuinely NICE to everyone! Understand me correctly, I wasn’t ‘nice to him’ out of some misplaced marketing motive or obligation… he is a genuinely nice guy and we just got along. That is true of MOST of the folks I associate with “throughout” the business I support and who support me…

= Number Three:
Life Time Value! What started out as a one time job nearly 15 years ago is still producing tons of value for all parties involved! This is NOT the first time that as a DIRECT RESULT that several of theses executives have “taken me with them” to their new job environments… it happens A-LOT… mostly due to the two previous tips! (HINT, Hint, NUDGE, Nudge! Look up and re-read!)

I know you may be saying to yourself… “I’m Not That Much Of A ‘People Person’!” Well GET OVER YOURSELF, stop being a self center oaf and LEARN to be a ‘people person’! – …like DUH!

As you know, I could do 25 full courses JUST on this subject alone! It is the ONE skill set, that when applied will produce the MOST money and lifestyle returns for you, your business and your families as well as your buyers outcomes!

=> When you learn to genuinely love and serve others, you will not have to worry about work ever again!

…ok, back to our regularly scheduled share:

Anyway… HE, in his NEW JOB as GM and CFO (and casino) called his old “friend” and promotional entertainment expert, (that would be ME!) to explore some marketing, entertainment and casino promotional outcomes for his NEW Casino… COOL eh’?

We chatted and I tossed out valuable marketing and promotional entertainment ideas that would work for him in his new environment… I sent him a “proposal” based on our conversations and Viola’, as if by magic, he went for the GOLD (The BIG) package!

HERE is that ‘funny story’ about my billing process that he remembered from before: The ONE thing he remembered and mentioned when we were chatting was the fact that my invoices were FUN! It made him smile and even laugh when it came time to cut the checks and pay me! (Too, he knew how much I was making… that helped!)

On my invoices, I do several fun/funny things for that very reason… oh, and it WORKS! One of the things he remembered was I always signed my name with:

“Dean Hankey, Since 1961!
That Was When I was Born… Hehehehe!”

By the time I made it to the new casino to talk with the gaming and marketing departments, they told me that HE told them all about that… funny eh’?

You see, it’s all about the “Re-Elationships”! Make it FUN and add value! Adding a smile to someone’s day IS adding value! Especially if you can do-it while asking for money!

ANYWAY… (again) ..and HERE is the POINT:

After our conversation I sent them “one of those” full, 13 page sales letter type proposals, cram-packed with bold, benefit oriented headlines, powerful, persuasive sub-heads, riveting ‘others focused’ copy, content and promises (all 100% TRUE!) that are in the best interest of his casino, their guests and the business bottom line! (100% Accountable and Trackable By the Way!) all typed out, single space, lots of type, virtually no ‘white-space’ even poorly written according to any English teacher! Oh and YES, it even had a few type-o’s… not on purpose, but they were there none the less!

Bold? Over The Top? Hype-Y? Salesy? Brazen?

For some of those whiners who don’t understand how the real influence and persuasion process as well as the mind and effective marketing works, maybe… they “don’t like it” or they “feel” like it won’t work!

Two letters… BS!

Who cares how you “feel”, it has PROVEN to work more times that it has not! (Over 92% proven in my business and those that are working all they want!)

You’ll remember I started off this discussion by stating boldly that I am NOT a big “fan” of this type of marketing… but IT WORKS, so who cares how I “feel” about it all, right?

I could tell you stories of notes that I have received from “BUYERS(That’s a Hint!) that tell me they don’t LIKE the long sales letters I purposefully use… but always AFTER they BOUGHT my products! (Can You Say “BIG TIP”!)

…I could go on about that, I won’t here, now.

Anyway, HERE is what my Casino GM/CFO friend said in the letter accepting my services for his new casino: (Copy & Paste directly from his note)

Great material – it always brings a laugh and smile.  It is always fun signing your check!
 
I know this will be a big hit and the start of a great relationship.  How about “Thursday Night Live”?  We start this now, then we keep the party going with a hypnosis show one week, karaoke another, the match game another, and who the heck knows for others.
 
As for budget, lets “go for the Gold!”  It is an Olympic year.

(EDITED: Money stuff here… none of your business… hehehehe! Let’s just say, we’ll make it through ok. HA!)
 
Dean, judge what to do based on the crowd each night.  After this weekend, we can discuss the program for the following weekends.  I want to commit to booking it now, just can decide what to do and hours after this week.
 
I would also like to book for the Hot August Nights – for Thursday 8/7, Friday 8/8 and Saturday 8/9.  Not sure what or what times.  Lets say 3 to 5 hours each day.  We can decide who, what, when after this week’s performance.  Jayne & Herb can help plan that out.
 
Sally, can email me the contract so I can fill out with Dean next week for the following weeks?  Sally will be enjoying a vacation starting this Friday.

WOW! And all this in LESS than a week! (and 13 pages of type writen copy! I bet you’d love to see THAT letter, eh’?)

Who’da thunk it… he LOVED the long, 13 page salesy, hypey, bold, benefit oriented letter, so much so that he tells me he LOVES Signing My Checks! I guess it WORKS eh’?

* Another Re-Elationship LESSON:
Pay particular attention to the TRUST he extends to me in my ability to work the casino and his crowds doing what-ever I think will work at the time… now THAT is a real TRUST Re-Elationship!

Let’s look at the other side of the coin for just a second:
OK, What if I went with my “feelings” and didn’t do what I know and has proven to work on a constant, persistent basis??? ALL of us would have been screwed!

= I wouldn’t have gotten the gig, (and all the others I book too…)
= I wouldn’t have been above to help them with their business bottom line
= and the guests would have been sitting there (or walked out the door, bored to tears!) with the finger in their noses!

=> Oh, and my wife gets all that glorious money we receive as a direct result of helping them get more of what THEY WANT, NEED and DESIRE! Yet again, we get to live life and enjoy helping others in our community in the process! (We give a lot… and LOVE IT!)

…and a “ZERO WIN” scenario if I had done what I “like” versus what WORKS!

Success is NOT about “feelings”! SURE we should be nice and if we care more about others that we do about the ‘paycheck’ then that works itself out anyway, so it’s an ALL WIN Deal! [Nor is it a ‘license’ to be rude, haughty, superior or an egomaniacal rube!]

Just a reminder of what works whether we LIKE IT or NOT as long at it legal, ethical, moral and the like, I say DO WHAT WORKS!

Like I always say:
“The KEY to Success is that Successful People Have Simply Formed the Habit of DOING the things that unSuccessful People Are unWilling To Do… regardless of How We FEEL!” – WE Do It ANYWAY!
