“Information Versus ACTION Again… Ho Hum!”

WHY is it that some ‘insist’ that INVESTING in their success and learning is a bad thing??? Some blatantly and globally insight ALL marketing courses as some sort of waist of money scam!

REALLY?I’m sorry, but that is sheer ignorance!

Oh sure, SOME are, welcome to LIFE, but they are really in the minority in the big-picture of products and services… but to say (and YES they DO) that “ALL” are a waist of money or some kind of rip-off is patently false and worse yet, damaging to the success of those who really DO want and need to take their success to the next level… sad!

Hey, I Agree 110% in that no such-thing as “Magic Bullet Marketing” and no one “NEEDS” to get some marketing course for money for sure! NOT suggesting otherwise…

Hey, I completely understand that the internet and your local library are chalked FULL with LOTS of useful information… The Dean’s List alone is a testament to THAT!

There truly is way MORE than you will be ever able to get to, read or ‘use’ for that matter! – Like DUH!

The challenge is, as I have said here many times, is NOT a lack of information; (For FEE or For a Fee) heck you can see that the internet alone is loaded with ‘information’, and like ‘the over-all internet and the library’, there is more that anyone could ever possibly apply to our respective business’!

OK, Fine n’ dandy! I’m good with that!

Hey, you can take what ya know Right NOW and just APPLY IT! – TODAY, THIS very second and get at-least some returns pretty dog-gone quickly if you simply “Take ACTION Until!!!”

The Dean’s List alone, already has more than you can use right now, (over 50,000 articles, discussions, shares, insights, experiences… etc, like 100 full-fledged courses, FREE!) so just Take ACTION immediately on what you DO know NOW and CAN apply WHILE you keep learning more and better ways to take action more EFFECTIVELY”, but still, TAKE ACTION NOW! (…and frequently… and UNTIL!)

I will say that the REASON we learn from others (on the net, in the library and in course materials, seminars, trainings, lectures… etc.) is to help our ONLY non-replentishable resource; TIME!

“Time Once Spent, Can NEVER Be Replenished!” You can make more money, but no one sells “time’, once spent.

Oh, and of course, we save time AS WELL as the “Talent and Treasure” we also invest along our journeys path, but all the killer information in the WORLD (for Free or For Fee) is all but ‘useless’ if you don’t APPLY IT and TAKE ACTION now!

Hey no one ever promised us that success was ‘a perfect process’, and nor is it a destination… we’ve heard it all before, It “Is A Journey”.

Personally, I find, after all theses years, that Success is ‘simple’, but not always ‘easy’ if you understand my meaning. Sure, we MAKE it more difficult on ourselves that we often need to, but that is just a timed investment for most to LEARN how to make success more ‘simple’ and eventually more EASY and waaaay more attainable.

We keep adding more ACTION to what we “know” and we keep getting better and better over time… enjoy the ride and the ‘process’.

It’s quite FUN if you allow it!

YES, “there ARE shortcuts” at the expense of others mistakes, so when you stand on the shoulders of giants we can better see the destination before you and distinguish the PATH from the PITFALLS and that is what ‘Learning’ does for us.

GET IT?

I realize no one ‘NEEDS’ to spend a penny to get more information…

I WILL say that I have personally invested millions into my life and career and it has yielded personal, professional results well beyond the silly little investments I have made over the years. – If I were to have done it all again, I would have done it sooner and more frequently, but that’s me. (…and because of the RESULTS! – Duh!)

Please, use the net, use your local library (of course!) and “IF” you are to invest into your life and your success (in THIS example) I would embrace a success system that serves YOU and your target outcomes a most desired results!

IF you GET IT and Apply what-ever you choose, it will likely cut many years and many MISTAKES off your journey to your desired success destination!

Who doesn’t want that???

Stand on the shoulders of giants for less than the income you will make from ONE Silly Little Show or Event! (…and theses courses WILL show you how to do MUCH better that just ‘one-show’ for sure!) – A small, but fair trade For SURE! You won’t get that kind of return on investment in the stock market for sure!

So, KEEP LEARNING to be sure, BUT more importantly, “MAP” (Massive ACTION Plan) your way to success! Take action (“UNTIL”) and the results will come!

Success will NOT walk between you and your TV… that is for sure!

“Who Moved The Magical Cheese!?”

Pre-S: (that is like a PS, but before… ha!)
This truth will ‘challenge’ some more than others… some will launch scud missiles into this share (based on result and proven experience by the way…) insisting that there is a deadly reccession, while others may look on with queried eyes and still others will stand and applaud for the obvious truths being offered and shared here… you have been warned!

If you have not read the classic business tale “Who Moved My Cheese?” by Spencer Johnson, I suggest you really do so if you and an entertaining and yet truthful, pragmatic look at what is going on in the business and economic world today… though it was written many years ago; the answer is still pretty simple really!

CheeseMazeBlkYES, my friends… “The Cheese Has been Moved!”

The Problem:
Two completely juxtaposed schools of though when it comes to entrepreneurs and the economy.

The Situation:
= 1) There definitely IS a knuckle-busting recession and the pool is running dry! (Oh, and the sky is falling… did ya’ hear? Run for cover! hehehe!)

…and

=2) The “Cheese” is still in the maze, it has simply been moved!

Loosely translated, that means that people ARE, in fact still spending money, but the ‘rules’ of value exchange have changed.

The SOLUTION:
Oh, the cheese is still THERE, it’s just in a different position in the maze so to speak.

YES, It is most defiantly THERE, has just been simply MOVED is all.

While SOME are running around crying ‘poor-me’, the consistently successful are clearly enjoying better year(s).

As we have said here many times before, ‘merely survive or Wildly Thrive!”? – In short, business is still GROWING!

This is always true in shifting economic times… it is just history!

The point is, folks still are spending money! Plenty of it! They are smply ‘investing’ for different reasons and much more ‘particularly’. – - Which is a GOOD thing, as I see it anyway! I have been ‘preaching, teaching and nagging’ this would happen over the last 10 years! We just finally hit ‘The Tipping Point’ is all… and here we are!

If you are still suffering from the illusion that people just “buy the stuff you have to sell…”, YOU will likely never find the cheese!

People are looking for solutions to THEIR most pressing wants, needs, cares, concerns and desired outcomes! Period!

People simply “WANT What They Want, When and How THEY Want It”! ‘THEN and only then’ will they invest in the solutions and outcomes YOU may have if they truly believe that you have what THEY most want, need and desire!

Chalk one more up in the WIN column for “Value Added, Re-Elationship Marketing!”

Isn’t THAT the way it should ALWAYS BE?
= Free Enterprise!
= Fair Market Forces!
= Supply & Demand!
…the “Solutions Provider Paradigm!”

Sound familiar?

It SHOULD, it is what we have been screaming at the top of my lungs since we have been sharing success out-loud, online; and for me, since about the time I learned to walk & talk! (Yea, ok, might have been an annoying kid! – Hehehehehehe!)

Oh I know what some of you are saying… You STILL ARE! – Ha!

Maybe so, but it’s more true today than maybe it ever has been in my lifetime, and its only gunna get “MORE TRUE!” Hey, no use denying it!

Simply put We don’t GET PAID for selling our products and services, we get REWARDED for providing VALUE and a “Proven Solution” to people and their most pressing considerations!

How much more plain can I be?

So if you want to WIN in this economy, you will need to:
=> CREATE VALUE and “Locate The Cheese”
=> LEARN how people are looking at the ‘way’ they choose to invest there time, talent and treasure theses days.
=> THEN you will soon figure out how to “generate the value” that unlocks the vault to the financial success paradigm for all citizens of the maze of life.

Simply stated:
Find ways to take what YOU DO to HELP OTHERS do (or get) more of what THEY want, need or desire and ‘POOF’, everyone now has a huge pile of cheese savor and to enjoy!

Obviously, by n’ large this IS a different way of doing business for most folks, or we would NOT be in the ‘blind cheese hunter’ condition that some find themselves in today, right?

This is the WAY that The Best, Brightest and Most Effective Professional Business Experts make the world rotate… they Add Massive VALUE and get Rewarded Accordingly!

Truth is; those experts are NOT having a so-called ‘recession’ crises at alljust a simple cheese hunt is all.

Even MORE Simply Put:
“The More VALUE You Create, The More Money You’ll Make!” (Sound Familiar?)

Now Go Find Your CHEESE!

“LOGO… Yes? No? Maybe?”

QUESTION:
How essential or influential is a “LOGO” in our over-all marketing arsenal?

hand holding penSome suggest that a “LOGO” is the magic that makes “Big Success America” the success they are today while others say it has little or no real intrinsic value in the marketing landscape. They say a “LOGO” is worthless… nothing.

What say YOU?

I settle a bit in the middle of the over-all mix of it…
=> Does our “LOGO” produce bottom line, profit bearing results?

NO, not really and certainly directly. NOT all by itself anyway. (Generally speaking that is, and especially in OUR case as independent business owners and NOT the “Biggies” in the corporate perspective of it all…)

I find Marketing is a “holistic process”:
That is…TWO WORDS:

= Holistic
Basically meaning and over-all broad spectrum of details and procedures.

= Process
Not a ‘one-thing’ or a ‘destination’ as it were, but a “process” or journey along the way to getting the result we desire.

BOTH are only “part” of the profit producing process and procedures for making business successful.

…ah the magic of “marketing”.

Now a “LOGO” simply floating ‘out there’ alone will not (or likely cause someone to)  pick-p the phone, send out marketing, knock on doors and book shows for us if it is never applied, used, put out there in this over-all “holistic process” of our “Marketing Mix”. (Regardless of HOW we each choose to market…)

A LOGO is ‘one’ element in an “ID Package” (Brand Continuity, Congruent and Consistency Process) that we can use in our ‘branding’ BUT not the ONLY thing.

Certainly, consistency and congruency of color, look, feel, approach are all equally as important in this over-all holistic process and approach as a LOGO might be, present or not.

=> Does an “EFFECTIVE” LOGO ‘add’ to the Holistic Process in our marketing and success efforts if we apply it well?

I sure could! (IF done correctly!) It can equally be distracting and a menace to our success if it is not good!

I WILL say, as part of the over-all marketing mix and holistic process a LOGO “can” be a very powerful stylized embedded reminder of all the stuff our marketing hopes to achieve all in nice little package all wrapped in a bow. Again, “IF” done correctly!

* TIP: Hire a PRO!
(By the way… side note: Not all LOGOS are “visual”.  Another session…)

THAT is why all the “BIGGIES” apply the principle of an ‘effective‘ logo. – - Truth be told, when done ‘correctly’ a powerful and effective LOGO can-be rather hypnotic in nature and can easily ‘anchor’ and bring-back all the positive (or negative depending) emotions and experience attached to that particular “LOGO” or “ID” representative of any particular business or marketing campaign outcome! (Hint! Hint!)

B-I-N-G-O! Mareting Paydirt!
It all simple marketing psychology really.

I realize that “No One Answer” is all right or all wrong. I AM very interested in understanding YOUR response and perspective on the subject… so WHAT SAY YOU?

Especially in today’s economic climate and the ‘perception’ of uncertainty, “VALUE” is and ever-more important component of success!

I know you’ve heard me ‘harp’ on the principle of success of adding value time and time again and NOW it is more important to let people KNOW you are a professional who understand and applies the virtue of value!

Truism:
“The More VALUE Your Create, The More Money (Reward) You’ll Make!”

This is not JUST a saying, but this ‘is’ a lifestyle choice for those who are consistently and persistently successful regardless of the so-called economic climate one way or the other!

Neither am I suggesting that anyone prostitute themselves for the sake of a few bucks… No Way!

KNOW YOUR WORTH, create massive value and if you ‘market’ it properly and effectively, you will not ‘want’ for all the work you can handle!

Sure, it take effort and it takes education… we say it takes “LUCK” (Labor Under Correct Knowledge!) to get it done, and I AGREE!

What are some of the ways that YOU “Add Value” and how do you make sure hat your target audience KNOWS that is true about you?

HERE are at-least 3 ways I support and add value in a few different areas of my life and business:

=1) THIS Place is ‘one-way’ I add value (as do those who support places like this.) to the performance and presenters industry by sharing real-world, road-tested success results that help others succeed!

=2) Offering Killer, Powerful, Tested, Proven Success Bonuses (Tools, Resources, Assets.. etc) is a way I support my success student relationships when they embrace me and some of my success resources!

=3) Throwing in ‘extra’ time, talent (what-ever is appropriate) for my ‘event relationships’ is another way to add value and help others so I stay as busy as I do.

Do It Anyway!
Share Your Way To Success!

One thing that has always bothered me about Zig’s, now famous, and oft quoted statement is the implication that you should just go around helping others obtain whatever they desire without them putting up anything in return for the help.
(Read The TDL Member Thread for MORE…)

So I thought I would share with our not yet members “part” of this discussion:

I agree with you Rick. Yeah, like that is a big surprise! (Hehehehe!)

The thing about “Helping Other get What they Want, Need and Desire” is MAKING SURE you truly HELP them, NOT “HURT-THEM” or “do it for them”! (Darn it all, the “Price Of The Prize” thing again!) …and MOST of the time that means:
= A) Telling them the Honest To God TRUTH! (In love and respect.)
= B) “Help” them EARN it… which is different than DOING IT for them!
= C) Stop ‘enabling’ them… (kind like “B”, and different all at the same time)
= D) Share the truth of “Responsibility and Accountability and Ongoing Education”.
= E) Support them “appropriately”, then get out the way of their success and let them go!
…there s more, but you get the idea!

Sometimes “helping others get what they want, need and desire” is demanding more of them than THEY are willing to demand of themselves. (…that is NOT being mean, rude, controlling or egocentric!)

Sometimes “helping others get what they want, need and desire” is insisting that they “catch-up” and get with the program (again, in love and with respect!) before you give them the keys to the kingdom when they may not have the insights, character and development yet to “handle” the keys yet.

EXAMPLE:
I had a friend who wanted to go full time when he was clearly NOT ready!

Oh sure, he had a killer “act”! Truth be told, his “act” was better than most full timers working today, but he was still faaaaaar from READY for full-timing!

= A) He had little or no discernibly effective marketing in place. He had NO proven “system” for earning the so-called full time living he wanted… didn’t EARN, but just “wanted”. – “WANT” is not always enough!

= B) He had a growing family and yet he had NO savings or any kind of an “emergency fund” (6 months to 3 years worth of ‘expenses IN THE BANK! Just In Case!) and a PILE of consumer debt and no plan or the means to pay it off!

= C) He was planning on taking out a Huuuuuge Bank/Mortgage loan to support his ‘day-dream’ with NO plan, No Marketing, No Written Goal or outcome plan in place… he would never even know if he ever arrived cuz he did NOT have a “M.A.P.” (Massive ACTION Plan!) for his journey!

Heck, he was barely a hobbyist-level income earner and he was gunna go FULL TIME?

NO, I don’t think so! Sadly, He was not even CLOSE!

So the REAL question becomes:
Would I Be really HELPING HIM” if I just built his marketing and showed him everything he needed to know to leave his family in the dust when he was clearly NOT ready, nor did he have the experience, discipline, character to earn a full time lifestyle???

NO WAY! That is NOT “helping”, that is enabling an addiction! In this case the addiction is the “illusion” that a good act alone is good enough, when it is NOT!

Heck, it even cost me that relationship, (for quite a while) but I loved him enough (still do) that I was willing to surrender my relationship with him to support the TRUTH (I was not rude, controling or mean… just honest) of his situation for he and his family!

Ultimately, he made the wholly unprepared leap anyway and is now divorced and out of work, “starving artist” living on welfare up to his eyeballs in debit and fully NOT living the well deserved life he is capable of!

Sad, no one else will see or appreciate him or his talent and “killer act” because of that sort of selfishness either!

Talk about your “LOSE, Lose, lose” type situation!

On the other hand, there have been literally thousands of folks that HAVE earned the right to win the HELP and Support they deserve and were willing to earn!

ANYONE “CAN”, lots DO and some do not… such is life! “You can’t FORCE people to be the success they can and well should be” if only they are willing to do what is necessary to accomplish their “Goals, PLANS and Dreams”… but there is a “Price For EVERY Prize” and one of those prices we all need to pay is helping others get more of what they want need and desire! – Like it or not!

Yep… Zig DID have it right! Notice he never said that “You Can Have All You Want If Only You FORCE Enough Other People Get What They WANT Regardless of Whether They Are READY For It Or Not…”

The entire “Price Of The Prize” principle actually reads:

“There Is A Price For EVERY Prize!
= It’s Always Personal
= It’s Always Costly
= It is NOT Negotiable
…and Only YOU Can Pay That Price!”

This is an “OLD” ideal that was re-written in Chris Carey’s amazing Book, “The Price Of The Prize” (Totally worth an annual read!) and well predates his reminding of it all, but still holds true today and on into the future! We would all do well to be reminded regularly of this TRUTH on a regular basis.

“Recession Proof Success… proven once again!”

I am honored by the family members here The Dean’s List! When ‘the world’ say that life the economy and business down, you guys see it an “an opportunity” to ratchet up your success by taking your business to the next level and GIVE More, Provide More Value and look out of the best interest of your audience, your buyers, your friends and the GENUINE SERVING of your relationship as a higher business and success value and I think the WINS are in for all parties involved.

Don;t take my word for it, HERE si what JUST A FEW (of MANY) say about it all:

Over here in the UK lots of people are going through hard times as well. And as you guys have already motioned, fuel prices are increasing everyday (although to put it in perspective we pay 2 bucks a litre – you guys in the US pay about 1). However, an amazing thing is happening. My business has increased against all my expectations – even after I put my prices up!

I think my current success in securing bookings which my collegues can’t, can only be attributed to much of the knowledge I’ve gained on this very forum. Thank you.

So, in answer to the question, I’d say NO to lowering prices in general and YES to raising the benefit and value.

Hello everyone!

I became a member here quite awhile ago and I just wanted to take a minute and say ‘thank you’ to everyone here!

I have been performing full-time for nearly 20 years and due to some changes in management had lost one of my largest clients (whom I had been working with every summer since 1992). Fortunately, I found out that I would not be returning for the summer to work for them in January.

I then pushed my marketing into full gear and using the techniques I learned here and through the suggested reading that had been mentioned here I managed to have a record breaking summer contract wise.

I ended up making more money, had more spare time and got paid to visit some beautiful places and for the first time had some serious money to invest in my show.

So, Dean thank you for this great forum thank you to everyone here for the great learning environment!!

What an Amazing Life and Lifestyle!

This last few days has been a phenomenal learning week for meand all from HOME “in my underwear” kind of thing. (Though NOT really in my underware! Sorry for THAT mental picture! Eeeewwwueee! YUK!)

Oh… the technology that allows us to share time and insights with other all around the world at the same time!

It ain’t PERFECT for sure… as a matter of fact, “The Dean’s List” is experiencing some “techno-problems” as we speak. And such is life… no biggy. It just IS what it IS sometimes.

I AGREE that our most precious, “non-refundable” resource (TIME, once spent can never be regained) can be ’sometimes’ mis-spent, and THAT is what “Success Time Management” and our own ‘Discernment’ is for!

It’s UP TO YOU! It is ONLY a waist if you make it a waist! WHY would anyone “MAKE IT” a waist???

Common Sense Is NOT Always Common Place”! is it? – And it is “up to us” to choose wisely how we “INVEST” our resources of Time, Talent & Treasure. I agree… do it wisely, but there is no-need to throw the baby out with the bathwater willy-nilly… like duh! THAT sort of thinking will damage your success! Be VERY careful brothers and sisters… be VERY CAREFUL!

It is TRUE that loads of time “can” be waisted, and if you spend time where you do NOT get a ROI, (Return On Investment) I agree that it is a waist!

The good news is that not all of the internet is a dark abyss of wasted time! Use your BRAIN and “choose wisely” where and when to invest your “resources” well.

ANY smart investment councilor will tell us that… again DUH!

I am NOT telling anyone what is right or wrong ‘for them’. All I am saying is “INVEST WISELY” and make SURE that when you DO INVEST, make Sure that you are:

= A) Getting a Return On Your Investment!

“How ‘TV’ Can Change Your Life For The Good!”

businessfacetv.gifThe proper use of TV (That Is: “Transformational Vocabulary” – Yes it’s a real science!) is powerfully important in the influence process!

Think about this:
Even when we use simple words like YES and NO, we have a physiological response to these words…

Do this:
Repeat the word YES!, Yes! Yes!
to yourself over and over again OUT LOUD.

Now notice how you “feel”.

Now do the same thing with the word NO!, No! No! – Go ahead, repeat it to yourself out loud, over and over again…

NOW how do you feel?

OK, now go ahead… go back to YES! Yes! Yes! (Your Welcome! Hehehehe!)

If you did this, You KNOW what I am suggesting is 100% TRUE, even in this ‘super-simple’ example!

So words like:
“Angry, Pissed, Mad as Hell” have a different impact in our lives, our effective communication and on our success! What if we choose different words… Yes, “JUST” different WORDS!

Notice what happens in a stress situation when you use “Mad as Hell!” instead of “Challenged” or “Simply Frustrated”

I guarantee you the real world RESULT and response will be MUCH different! – REALLY!

This also demonstrates the notion of being a truly effective “Solutions Provider” while looking out for the very best interest of your relationships, putting THEM be at-ease with the engagement process by choosing more supportive WORDS. Yep, that’s all, just change the WORDS you use.

Words have POWER at a cellular level. Words DO make a difference so learn to CHOOSE your words wisely!

Hey, don’t take my word for it; try some of these word-swaps and see what happens for YOU and your more effective communication and success outcomes…

HERE are a few tested TV’s (Transformational Vocabulary) that have proven to work in business: Test em’ for yourself…

- Client/Customer = Relationship
- Booking = Engagement
- Contract = Agreement and Letter of Understanding
- Problem = Opportunity
- Product (what ever it is…) = Solution
- NO = Yes, we can do without that (Or what-ever the situation may be)
- Think About It = Your Thoughtful Consideration

…of course there are soooooo many more!

You’ve all seen and heard quite a few of us actually talk and write like this. It’s done now as a matter of wrote, and I imagine we rarely even “think” about it anymore cuz it’s just what we do.
